It’s the same story with all of us suffering from panic attacks symptoms. We suffer, we think that the best way of overcoming panic attacks should be to visit a doctor. We do, and the doctor does one of the following:

Prescribe us some panic attack treatment drugs that make us dizzy, and above all, doesn’t help to cure our anxiety attacks. Tell us that “it’s all inside our heads” and recommend us some self relaxation techniques that are meant to distract the symptoms, not to cure our anxiety attacks.

I have been there. I was doing those while this whole problem was eating my life away; I was doing those while I was unable to get out of my house, I was on the verge of losing my job, my wife, my kids, my family and my life. No, I didn’t want to learn how to cope with panic attacks. I wanted to learn how to get rid of panic attacks completely.

And I did that. I was taught how to overcome anxiety and panic disorder. And I was able to accomplish this – overcoming panic attacks. Naturally, it wasn’t thanks to any “coping” techniques – it was thanks to a technique that was meant to go head to head with the fear and kill it.

The right way of treating panic disorder is to face your fear. Picture yourself over an edge right now – anxiety and panic are pushing you further to the edge. The techniques for coping with anxiety aren’t working and it becomes worse day per day. You are afraid of having another panic attack. This fear itself raises your stress and anxiety, and makes a panic attack likely. So, the panic attack can feed on itself to create an ever-growing cycle of fear.

You must break this cycle of fear by wanting to have a panic attack. I know it sounds scary, but this is how you can cure your anxiety disorder.

Remember that analogy to you being pushed to the edge? Jump. Jump from the cliff yourself, into your fears and anxiety. It sounds scary, but the medical fact is that panic attacks are completely safe. There can come no harm to you by having one. Yes, it feels horrible and your senses are heightened, but medically, there is no harm done. Jump there, knowing that there can come no harm to you.

And you will see for yourself that the fall becomes a three inch drop. You are safe. You have always been safe.

Thousands of drivers who have had an anxiety attack while driving fail to seek panic attacks help. There are those who are terrified of driving and find it hard to get into a car even as a passenger. Each person may have their reason for fearing to drive. A traumatic experience such as being involved in a car accident or witnessing one, can ingrain terrifying thoughts and images into the subconscious.

A panic attack although frightening is nothing more than a natural nervous response to counteract a danger. Simply having feelings, thoughts and images of fear can trigger the fight or flight’ response. In prehistoric times the stress response enabled man to fight with more speed, strength and alertness. With no fear of being eaten in modern society, the fight or flight response has lost some of its usefulness. Our biggest enemy today is stress, and this alone can trigger the response unnecessarily.

Stress affects everyone and particularly people with stress related illnesses. Anxious or depressed people have a higher sensitivity to stress and find that they become easily nervous and stressed. It’s not always a single traumatic event that causes one to fear driving. Normally a full blown attack occurs from having experienced several smaller episodes of anxiety and fear.

Getting caught in a traffic jam, missing your exit on the freeway, driving at night and driving over bridges; these are common situations that nervous drivers dread. In just a few seconds a little fear can turn into a panic attack. All of a sudden your heartbeat is racing, you begin to sweat profusely and you feel like your losing control. The added fear of crashing makes it an even more horrifying and dangerous experience.

It’s not surprising that some people refuse of dread getting back into a vehicle. While some people simply stop driving, panic attacks treatment can help those who want to conquer their anxiety and start driving again. Driving is a necessity for some people.

Common panic attacks help comes in the form of therapy or medication. While medication can reduce the risk of attacks and symptoms, it is essential to seek advice from a doctor. Some medications may cause drowsiness and impair driving. Exposure therapy and behavioral therapy are effective means of treating anxiety and with maintenance people can overcome the fear of driving.

Breathing exercises, EFT and positive affirmations are also useful for those looking for alternative panic attacks help. Preparation is a great help for those who are anxious about driving. If you’re very anxious or stressed, avoid getting in the car. Spend a few minutes breathing deeply to relax you before you travel. Some helpful things to take are; a cell phone, a CD and a paper bag in case you hyperventilate.

If you don’t have satellite navigation, make sure to plan your journey. If possible avoid peak driving times. Put on the radio or a CD to calm you and pay attention to any tension that you have. Take nice and slow easy breaths and let your shoulders drop. Remind yourself that you will arrive safe and sound, and use positive affirmations.

If you start to feel anxious, don’t worry, continue to breathe deeply and reassure yourself that it’s just adrenaline in your body. If a panic attack is inevitable pull over to a safe area as soon as possible. Some people find breathing into a paper bag helps them to calm down. If you don’t feel fit to drive don’t, try to call for assistance instead.

For many people that suffer from panic attacks, they do not know where to turn for help. Many people believe that panic attacks are something they are just meant to live with. They do not realize that there is treatment and help available to them. They suffer in silence as most people suffering from panic attacks are embarrassed and do not want other people to know about it.

There are many ways to go about getting help for panic attacks. The first thing that a sufferer has to do is admit that they have problems with anxiety and panic attacks. Treatment is not possible until a person is able to admit that there is a problem. This is true no matter what type of problem someone has. Once the sufferer admits that they have a disorder that they cannot control on their own, they can start to seek out the help that is out there waiting for them.

Often, the first place that people go when looking for help with panic attacks is to a psychiatrist. Due to the fact that panic attacks are a problem that is emotional and psychological, this would make sense. Also, panic attacks and anxiety are often accompanied by other metal health problems such as depression. A psychiatrist can prescribe medication that can help to control symptoms related to panic attacks. These medications can make the attacks less severe and for some people they can even occur less often. The medications will also help a person learn to cope with the attacks and prevent them from controlling the person’s life. Medications can offer people freedom to enjoy life and not to live their lives focusing solely on their panic attacks.

There are many support groups and therapists available to help with panic attacks. Support groups allow people suffering from panic attacks to come together with other people that suffer the same problems. It is often very helpful to know that you are not alone and to be able to freely discuss your problems with people that understand and that are going through the same things that you are. Therapists can help get to the root of the problem. For most people that suffer panic attacks, there is stress factors involved. The sufferer may not even realize what these factors are. They may not have any idea what is causing their attacks. A therapist can be a good person to talk to and they can help you figure out what is going on in your life. They can also help people to learn coping skills and learn how to manage their panic attacks. While there is no definitive cure to completely eliminate panic attacks, learning coping techniques can help you to cope effectively and to live a happier life that is not controlled by panic attacks.

There are many different techniques that can help people cope with and manage panic attacks. A simple search on the internet can provide a variety of different tips and tricks that can help you manage your panic attacks. There are things ranging from breathing exercises to distracting yourself from the attacks when they occur. There may be different techniques that you need to try in order to find out what works best for you. Whatever you do, you should not resolve yourself to the fact that you are destined to suffer. There is help available. It is just a matter of seeking the help and accepting it.

Since so many people suffer from panic attacks, doctors and specialists have spent a lot of time developing treatments for anxiety and panic attack sufferers. Some of these techniques are easy to put into action, and others are quite difficult and life-changing. For example, certain medications may have other side effects that are less desirable than having panic attacks! That’s why it’s best to evaluate all your options and see what’s best for you.

One of the simplest anxiety and panic attack treatments is breathing into a paper bag. This can help you focus and get your breathing to return back to normal. Even though this treatment seems simple enough, there is some controversy surrounding it. That’s because it can increase the carbon dioxide levels in your system, which can make your panic attacks worse.

Instead of breathing into a paper bag, you might consider using certain breathing techniques. Breathing in and out very slowly through your nose can help to balance your body and decrease the responses of fear.

In addition to breathing techniques, you can also rely on certain medications to help you feel better. Common medications are benzodiazepine drugs. These can help in stopping panic attacks, and help you live a more normal life. Unfortunately, developing a dependence to these kinds of drugs is far too common. There are other side effects that can come from these medications that you’ll definitely want to look into before getting started. Some doctors may put you on an antidepressant instead, but these come with their own set of problems.

While some rely on medications, others want only natural herbal cures for panic attacks, or holistic approach. We’ve already discussed breathing techniques, but there are other things you can do as well. One of the best approaches is repeating coping statements to yourself. For example, you can remind yourself that no one has ever died from having a anxiety and panic attack — that the fear is unrealistic. Visualize the absolute worst thing that can happen in this moment in time, and realize that you can handle it after all.

One of the most powerful things you can realize is that even though it is called a “panic attack,” it is not something you need to fight. Instead, you can just observe your panic attack and actually welcome in the symptoms. This may sound counterintuitive; but it can absolutely work for you. Instead of getting stuck in a cycle of having panic attacks, you are suddenly not so fearful anymore.

These are fairly simplistic descriptions of some common panic attack and anxiety nutritional supplements that are available to you. It’s in your best interest to learn more today so you can devise a treatment plan that will help you end your panic attacks for good.

Panic attacks occur for different reasons and affect people differently. For instance, counseling is a good way to help you identify what some underlying triggers are. One thing is evident about these attacks; they can take a toll on the body. The symptoms of a panic attack are extremely high heart rates, the feeling that you are struggling to take a breath, and immense chest pains.

Many people often misconstrue a anxiety attack for a heart attack, because the symptoms bear a close resemblance to one another. There is also panic attack treatment you can follow to reduce your anxiety problem. There are different factors that may cause a panic attack to occur.

Some people develop an attack because of an incident that may have happened to them, while others may develop an attack because of a phobia of one kind. You feel as if your heart is pounding out of your chest, and your emotions are going haywire. From there, the best course of treatment can be defined for you. All the options will be explained in detail to you so that you will have a choice of what you wish to try.

Panic attacks make your body emulate the motions of a heart attack. Some people have even referred to a anxiety attack as being a cross between a heart attack and falling in love for the first time. During a professional counseling session, a complete physical and mental evaluation and assessment is done. Therefore, different types of panic attack treatments are used for the different types of panic attacks.

Anxiety precedes panic so a good understanding of the first goes a long way toward an effective approach to panic attacks treatment. However, when the symptoms escalate into anxiety attacks, the person could have what is called an “anxiety disorder”.

A person who suffered with this condition described it as being ‘like a switch broken in the head’ so the constant worrying could never be turned off. They just can’t overcome the unbearable anxiety they feel. Because of that, the ones with this problem frequently start avoiding common things in life, like trips, many forms of outdoor entertainment, and parties and get-togethers. If kept at a reasonable level, it’s like a wave that comes and then goes away. Anxiety is a normal emotion that affects every human being once in a while.

Anxiety and panic attacks are not diseases of the body but a condition of the mind, and therefore should not be treated with sophisticated or synthetic drugs. For a quick, effective and lasting results it should be treated with natural means.

Natural means include cleansing the mind of thoughts that provide negative results and replacing it with thoughts that provide positive results. In line with this is the method widely known is hypnotherapy. This involves the person undergoing a deep relaxation procedure. Positive thoughts and images are brought to the subconscious mind, causing the mind to relax deeply.

Hypnotherapy relieves the mind and relaxes the body resulting in improved wellness and promoting a better mental state. With this procedure the patient gets the desire to do positive things like excercise, positive thinking and eating healthy foods.

A good thing about natural treatments against anxiety and panic attacks is that it is not addictive like synthetic drugs because no artificial chemical is involved. It works to relax the mind and frees the mind of thoughts that bring about anxiety and panics.

However, if there is any need to introduce medication in the treatment of anxiety or panic attacks one should confine himself within herbal treatments. Most herbs have soothing effects and are also non-addictive, and therefore not dangerous. Kava Kava, Chamomile, Bugleweed, Ginseng and Catnip are some of the accepted herbs for anxiety and panic attack treatments.

These herbal treatments are accepted because they have calming effects and their side effects are minimal unlike synthetic drugs.

In addition to hynotherapy and herbal treatments people suffering from anxiety and panic attacks are advised to engage in eating healthy and getting involved in plenty of excercises. Taking supplements like vitamins with B complex, fruits and vegatables is also a good approach in dealing with anxiety and panic attacks.

Anxiety could turn to be dangerous if not checked and eradicated in time. Although it is not a disease that can be contagious like a virus, it is an ailments that destroys the mind, and prevent it from acting rationally.

What Are Some Of The Symptoms Of Panic Attack?

* Trembling
* Shortness of breath or breathlessness
* Increased heart rate
* Chills
* Burning sensations in the facial or neck area
* Sweating
* Sensation of choking are usually reported as symptoms of panic attack

Some may experience only few of these symptoms, while others may experience more. Because of the similarity in the symptoms, many who experience a panic attack for the first time may mistake it for a heart attack. It is always best to seek medical help if you are uncertain that you are experiencing a panic attack.

Typical panic attack symptoms usually last up to 30 minutes, while some attacks may last for several hours or even as little as few seconds.

A significant aspect of panic attacks is the feeling that accompanies these symptoms – a feeling of an impending doom, and possibly an urge to escape or flee the place where the attack began.

Causes Of Anxiety Attacks

While science is still unsure of an accurate answer as to the specific causes of anxiety attacks, but there are some common triggers that are known to play a role.

* Stress hormones released into our system cause panic attacks, it follows that anything that causes these stress hormones to be released, can potentially act as a trigger for panic attack.

* If you know that a particular situation stresses you, and you feel that situation is impending, chances of that stress escalating into a panic attack increase. Traumatic events, which cause significant stress in life, also can lead to these anxiety attacks.

* Fear plays the biggest role in attacks. Just knowing that you are afraid of a particular object or situation, and you feel you may be exposed to that object or situation, will allow that fear to escalate into a full panic attack.

There are also certain medical conditions, which lead to panic attacks, so it is important to see a physician to determine if any of those conditions apply to you.

Natural Self Treatment Techniques and Tips

Learn deep breathing techniques. Deep breathing can allow your body to calm down when you begin to feel anxious. Controlled breathing relaxes the tightened muscles, and this has a direct effect on reducing the feelings of anxiety and panic felt by body. Begin your breathing exercise as soon as you feel the first sign of a panic attack.

It may take a bit of a practice to get there, but try doing this for at least couple of minutes, and gradually increase it as you can.

Relaxation techniques like yoga and meditation also help out in dealing with anxiety attacks in the long run.

Behavioral therapy that focuses on modifying your reactions to certain situations, and altering your thought pattern that would trigger your fear can be part of the panic attack treatment.

Remember the common triggers of panic attacks? Stress and Fear.

There are plenty of stress management tips that focus on helping us change the way we react to situations; and by proactively working to prevent stress, we equip ourselves better in dealing with anxiety attacks that can potentially be triggered by it.

And if we practice facing our fears in day-to-day situations, you will soon feel more confident in daily challenges, and this will help to overcome your panic attacks.

Natural Treatment Options

By extension, facing your fears can apply to the fear of the panic attack itself; learning to face your fear of a recurring panic attack, can potentially minimize our chances of such an attack happening a second time.

There are few natural treatment options that rely on this technique for overcoming panic attacks, without resorting to the use of medications; their main advantage being they are typically devoid of side affects, that could sometimes be caused by medications.

It is a fact that anxiety and panic attacks can strike at any time or any place. For those of us who are prone to them, they can take over their lives. For people who have had more than one panic attack, the fear that another will occur can be debilitating.

So, that it is clear what a panic or anxiety attack is, here is a list of the sorts of feelings which are commonly reported during these periods:

–A feeling that the world is closing in on you

–Strangely dizzy sensations

–A heartbeat that is pounding, much, much faster than usual

–Possibly a tingling in your chest

–Sweating

–An inability to concentrate.

Also, very commonly people suffer an acute fear of dying during the panic attack. Don’t worry – you won’t die though, nobody does.

A number of studies are ongoing to research into the causes, prevention, and treatment of anxiety disorders and other similar psychological disorders. Medical experts are particularly keen to understand how genetic factors and family background combine with life experiences to put a person at risk for these disorders. New drugs are being tested by these Health Institutions in clinical trials, as well as therapy approaches.

Some say that our children are more likely to suffer from panic attacks than the kids of non-panic-ers. They say that there does seem to be a genetic basis. In this area like so many others it is useful to study genetic twins. Some web articles say that in almost half of the cases of identical twins with panic both twins are affected. But, we should not dismiss the fact that behavioral learning may also play a role. That means, if I put it in a more simple way, that our children are likely to follow in our steps if we show anxiety to the extent of panic.

Now let me at this point just say, that if you do think you are starting an episode of anxiety which might develop into a panic attack, take care to remove yourself from dangerous situations. Do this especially if you might become, for a while, a danger to others. The obvious example here is that if you are driving, then stop and only start again once you are feeling better less stressed. If that means asking for help – so be it. Your friends and family will help you.

I am not a medic but I, like very many people, see self help as the starting point in finding a way to heal anxiety and panic attacks, as long as there is no biological cause (and you should consult your medical advisor in the first instance of course about this).

Instead of looking for exotic cures, try the simple things first. If something drug free and low cost, requiring only your time and participation works, then you will not need to look further.

One of the first and simplest things of all to do is to begin to keep a diary of all the situations that trigger panic attacks. That will mean that later you will know how often, when and where, they happened.

We listed common experiences during an attack earlier so write down each type of feeling that you experienced. What were you doing when is started and thinking, feeling at that time? Again, later you will know what the symptoms were.

Why do this you say? Well, a psychologist would I think say that the act of recording and describing each attack will help to put you in charge of the situation. You will also in later review of the information be able deduce how modifying your environment might help prevent future anxiety attacks.

We recommend that you check out the following self-help mini e-learning series: Panic Away, by Joe Barry. He suffered from Panic and Anxiety himself for years, until he managed to hit on one technique that is an almost fail-safe guarantee to rid you of your panic and anxiety.

2: What Causes Panic Attacks and Choosing Panic Attack Treatment

First let us be sure we know what a panic attack is. In physiological terms panic attacks almost always involve the body producing an excess of adrenaline. It is the effect of this suddenly entering into your system, in combination with several other related emotional factors going on within your psyche.

The underlying cause of panic attacks varies for everyone that suffers, and is still open to debate, but the precise cause quite naturally does seem to vary from person to person. Some panic attacks seem to come on unexpectedly, and this is certainly the case for everyone’s our first attack. Other anxieties may build up over time for some people and certainly many are most likely triggered later, after a traumatic event. The type of traumatic event varies widely but a good example would be a car accident. Others anxiety/panic attacks turn out to be situation-specific and an attack is frequently triggered if a certain pattern of circumstances recurs for the individual.

Medications such as Klonopin and Zoloft have been prescribed for the alleviation of these attacks. A lady said that she has taken these drugs for her anxiety, and at one time she was free from symptoms for more than 10 years, but the problem came back. She took no medication and it went away again.

Those who study panic attacks find that the attacks commonly occur in clusters. That is, plural episodes for several weeks or months followed by several months to years of joyful absence of the problem. Attacks do tend to be more prevalent in some families and we have been told that attacks are often reduced with SRI drugs like Zoloft.

Attacks of this sort can also be distressing problem for children, although mercifully only rarely. I’m not a pediatrician so I can’t tell you the incidence of panic attacks in kids, but according to web information seen, it seems pretty small. Usually, panic attacks do not start until in the late teens, but it can start earlier.

Counseling can be available for confronting the problem and reducing the anxiety that can produce a panic attack. It is also, of course, suitable for a wide range of conditions such as bereavement or marital problems. Counseling is an excellent approach and it is well proven that it helps many people every day live through difficult stages of their life.

However, when dealing with this particular problem counseling may not be needed if simple web based and trained techniques are applied to remove the suffering. One e-course we would like to recommend is seeing fabulous results as a leader in Stress Relief products. You have nothing to lose by applying. Do this and you will go one stage further before using drugs, and don’t forget that you can combine hypnosis with counseling and then it becomes possible to work at a considerably deeper level and overcome even the most entrenched panic attacks.

We recommend that you check out the following self-help guide to Control Panic Attack: Panic Away, by Joe Barry. Panic Away treats the panic attacks (anxiety attacks) and then shows you how to deal with general anxiety or GAD as it is called.

There are so many methods for overcoming anxiety and several wonderful natural panic attack treatments. Certainly there is no reason for giving into the conventional treatment for panic attack symptoms, which almost always translates to subjecting yourself to questionable medications.

After all, those prescription pills aren’t actually an option for anxiety cures or to cure panic attacks anyway. At best they simply mask the symptoms without ever enacting a factual cure. Genuine cures can be found in the realm of alternative medicine that are not only safe, but also reliable, effective, and inexpensive.

Some focus on diet and exercise, others by mental manipulation even through hypnosis, but the best ones in my opinion would be those that eliminate symptoms by healing physical deficiencies. If those types work, then obviously any other natural solution is not essentially required. Therefore the present article is focused primarily on nutritional solutions to overcoming anxiety disorders and panic attacks.

Apple Cider Vinegar – is a wonderful natural panic disorder treatment. Use preferably organic ACV but it should at least be unprocessed or as they say, “With the mother in it.” 1 tsp. 3 times a day in a glass of water has been reported to work wonders, or as much as a tbsp. or two especially in emergencies, has also been documented to be extremely helpful.

Vitamin B-12 & Folic Acid – is another standby in the realm of naturally overcoming anxiety. Any good Vitamin-B supplement should contain both and it is best taken in conjunction with 5-HTP. Of course there is no good reason not to take all of these remedies simultaneously, as apposed to relying on just one. Not necessarily at the same time, but throughout your day, as there is no conflict between them when taken in the recommended dosage.

5-HTP is an excellent option for a natural panic attack treatment. 5-HTP, short for 5-hydroxytryptophan is an intermediate metabolite which is situated between the amino acid tryptophan and the neurotransmitter serotonin. As we all know serotonin is esential for feelings of wellness, and for dealing with stress and anxiety. 5-HTP usually comes in 100 mg capsules. The recommended dosage is once to twice daily. It is suggested that you initially start with only one capsule a day, then gradually increase the dosage to two. However, do not exceed the recommended dose.

St. Johns Wort – Winter Cherry – Siberian Ginseng – are all superb herbs to take for anxiety disorders. Winter cherry and Siberian ginseng both support adrenal gland functions. Malfunctioning adrenal glands are often at the root of physical causes for anxiety disorders. Winter cherry has been shown to have a sedating effect on the body and helps to rebuild the digestive and nervous system. It is also excellent to take at night for a more restful sleep. Siberian ginseng has been used traditionally to stimulate and nourish the adrenal glands and for increasing mental alertness. St John’s Wort has been shown to be very successful in increasing a sense of well-being and reducing or even eliminating the occurrence and symptoms of panic attacks.

Flower Essences & Homeopathic Remedies – in particular Bach’s Rescue Remedy is a favorite for panic attacks. As far as homeopathic remedies are concerned Gelsemium reigns supreme. There are so many other flower essences and homeopathic remedies for anxiety disorders and panic attacks, but any good health food store will carry them, and of course they’re available on line.

Well that’s at least a healthy start on the road to living your life free from anxiety disorder symptoms. If you get these items in your home and set yourself up on a program to take them, and stay with it, you will get relief. As far as a 100% complete cure that all depends on the severity of your disorder and what’s causing it in the first place.

I hope the title of this article didn’t lead you to believe that deep breathing is ineffective towards dealing with panic disorders, or that I was making fun of it. On the contrary, it most certainly is. My position is, why should you have to? The same with regular exercise. Of course both are great if not essential for everyone, but if you can get to the root of the problem, that would be best.

No matter your situation, I do sympathize as no one can truly imagine the torment caused by this disorder, until they’ve personally experienced it. Don’t give up as you will achieve a total cure through holistic methods. There are so many, many, options, and as I said before, you can take advantage of them all, simultaneously.

Panic disorder is such a prevalent condition in our society, so don’t ever think your alone, and as far as a cure, your definitely on the right track. The day will come soon when you will look back at this condition and laugh. Seriously. Maybe today will be that day, so good luck and best wishes.
